The Warwick Police Department was established in 1921. Prior to that the villages of Warwick were policed by constables and sheriffs since 1648. The department currently has 172 sworn police officers supported by 53 civilian employees that provide municipal policing services to a residential population of 81,000.

In 2013, our organization (Southwest Airlines) suffered two very personal losses for our employees and their families. Off BJ Voss was a Somerset Polce Officer and military veteran. He suddenly passed away September 7th after working a 15 hours shift. the BJ Voss Educational Trust was set up to provide education for his two young sons and a scholarship fund for area students. US Army Private Timothy Torres passed away on January 29th after a motor vehicle accident. TIM'S WARRIORS is part of the Wounded Warrior Project to help other military members who may be in need.

The Warwick Police Department is eligible for and may receive funds from the 2015 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice (JAG) Program Solicitation in the amount of: $17,833. The Police Department is going to use this funding to purchase equipment and technology upgrades. On May 20th, 19 citizens completed the Warwick PD Citizens Police Academy which has been a very successful and popular program since its inception. The course consists of ten weekly sessions of classroom and hands-on trainging such as Patrol Operations, Crime Scene Investigations, K-9 demonstrations, firearms and ride alongs. The purpose of the program is to expose citizens to the realities of police work and training to better our relationship with our citizen partners to accomplish our mission: to protect and serve.
