SUBJECT: 2015 Triennial Citizen Satisfaction Survey Analysis
Introduction
The Citizen Satisfaction Survey is conducted by this agency every three years in accordance with General Order 500.01 and CALEA Standard 45.2.4 (B). The purpose of the survey is to document citizen perception of and satisfaction with overall department performance, overall competence of employees, attitudes and behavior toward citizens, safety and security within the City, and recommendations and suggestions for improvement.
Demographics
Sample
In previous iterations of this survey, potential participants were selected from the City motor vehicle tax rolls. Survey cards were mailed to 10 % of those selected randomly for the tax rolls. A total of 2,000 survey cards were sent out. A total of 160 citizens and business responded.
This cycle, it was determined that with the ubiquitousness of the internet and the increasing likelihood of spontaneous responses, we would rely on citizens and business being proactive in their desire to provide feedback.
This cycle saw a total of 117 responses.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 18, 2015
Warwick, RI-
Colonel Stephen M. McCartney and the Community Services Division of the Warwick Police Department would like to announce that it has a successful first annual Safe Rides Program on St. Patrick’s Day. The Safe Rides Program was conducted in collaboration with the Warwick Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and its goal was to reduce DUI related crashes, reduce incidents of drunk driving, and offer residents an alternative to being arrested for DUI on the St. Patrick’s Day holiday in the City of Warwick. Bars and liquor serving establishments throughout Warwick were notified of the program and were encouraged to promote their patrons to utilize the service.
Residents were urged to call 401-468-4200 for a ride anytime between the hours of 12 noon and midnight on St. Patrick’s Day. Citizen volunteers were dispatched to various establishments in the City to provide citizens a safe free ride home. This year, volunteers provided six (6) people free and safe rides home in an effort to reduce drinking and driving within the City.
“Although the numbers were lower than we had hoped, even one person who gets home safely and doesn’t get behind the wheel after drinking too much is a success” said Lt Michael Gilbert.
The Safe Rides Program was the idea of Community Police Sgt John Kelly who worked closely in conjunction with members of the Warwick Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association to make the program happen. Future programs such as this one are being considered for other holidays such as New Years Eve.
