There will be a ceremony Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Mayor's Office to recognize Sergeant Alan Valliere and Officer Dale Drowne as State Fire Marshal Chartier, Mayor Avedisian, and Colonel McCartney recognize these officers for their efforts after the Boston Marathon bombing.
Mayor Scott Avedisian and Colonel Stephen McCartney will join State Fire Marshal John "Jack" Chartier as he recognizes the efforts of two city police officers following the Boston Marathon bombing. Chartier will present letters of commendation to Sgt. Allen Valliere and Officer Dale Drowne tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the Mayor's Office.
Valliere and Drowne were part of a six-person bomb squad dispatched through Chartier's office in the hours following the April 19 bombing. The two joined Chief Deputy Fire Marshal Richard James, Assistant Flammables and Explosives Technician Thomas Groff, Deputy State Fire Marshals Albert Heroux, Jr. and Paul Manning, as well as public safety officials throughout the region in efforts in both Dartmouth and New Bedford, Massachusetts.
