FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Warwick Police Responded to a single vehicle accident in Warwick on June 5, 2015, at approximately 0119 hours. The Traffic Division’s Accident Reconstruction team is investigating the accident.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a motorcycle was traveling north on Ives Road when it lost control on a curve near the main entrance to Goddard State Park. The motorcycle crossed the double yellow lines and struck a tree as well as a stone wall on the opposite side of the road before eventually coming to rest. The operator Kevin Lorenz, 26 years old from Webster Ma, was transported to Kent Hospital by East Greenwich Rescue where he was later pronounced dead. Aaron Stewart, 21 year old male from Millville Ma who indicated that he was the passenger and was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was transported to RI Hospital with non life threatening injuries.    

At this time, it appears that speed and/or alcohol were factors in the collision. Investigators are continuing their investigation to include re-interviewing the passenger as well as attempting to locate anyone who may have witnessed the crash.
